LOST City BOOKS

Washington, D.C.

In this 2020 renovation of Lost City Books, a darker color scheme envelops visitors in an atmosphere of intrigue and nostalgia. Deep hues of navy, and rich burgundy create a cozy yet sophisticated backdrop that invites exploration. To evoke a sense of wonder, the design incorporates an eclectic mix of found objects—vintage globes, weathered maps, and repurposed wood—transforming the space into a treasure trove of literary charm. These unique elements not only enhance the aesthetic but also tell stories of their own, fostering a deep connection with the books they house. Nooks and crannies filled with plush seating and soft lighting encourage patrons to linger, while textured materials  and reclaimed wood add warmth and a lived-in feel. This thoughtful renovation masterfully balances ambiance and functionality, creating a welcoming haven for book lovers to lose themselves in.
